About Bramble & Bark Pet Care

Built Around The Ratio

Most daycare problems are arithmetic. One person cannot watch twenty dogs at once, so nobody gets settled and small scuffles turn into incidents. Bramble & Bark Pet Care runs one handler to every eight dogs. Three yards split by size rather than by breed, and two enforced rest periods a day — because a room of exhausted, over-aroused dogs is where incidents come from. It costs more in payroll and staff, and it is the entire reason we have the reviews we have.

Ratio

One handler to every eight dogs, all day.

Split

Three yards matched by size and play style.

Rest

Two enforced quiet blocks. Not optional.

Handlers

Trained in body language and group management.

What Twelve Hours Actually Looks Like

Not twelve hours of play. Nobody's dog would survive that, and neither would ours.

6:30–9:00 · Arrivals

Dogs come in, greet at least, then join their yard in small waves rather than all at once. Slow arrivals set the quietest part of the day, which suits nervous dogs.

9:00–11:30 · Morning Play

Structured group play in size-matched yards, with handlers intercepting the escalation ladder — nipping over-arousal before it tips into something real.

11:30–2:00 · Rest

Lights down. Every dog naps, on a cot or in a crate — whichever they take best to. This is the part cheap daycares skip, and the reason dogs come home settled.

2:00–4:30 · Afternoon Play

Second play block, usually calmer, with enrichment — snuffle mats, puzzle feeders — in summer. The rowdy morning crew is napping by three.

4:30–6:30 · Wind Down & Pick-Up

Leads back on. A final potty break, and a short cuddle at pick-up so short-stay dogs leave the same settled state — including the day's report card.

The Place

Three Yards, One Puppy Room

Everything here is visible on the webcams, so there is nothing you cannot check for yourself.

Every Dog Starts With An Assessment Day

Four hours, free, so we can see how your dog actually is in a group. Sometimes the honest answer is that daycare is not for them — and we would rather tell you that on day one.

The Questions Worth Asking Any Daycare

Ask these of us and of anyone else you are considering. The answers separate the good ones fast.

What is your handler-to-dog ratio?

Ours is one to eight. Above about one to fifteen, nobody is genuinely reading the room, and incidents get spotted after they are finished rather than before.

Do you separate by size?

Three yards, split by size rather than breed. A 70lb labrador and a 70lb shepherd can hurt a terrier without any aggression involved at all.

Is there a rest period?

Two, enforced. Continuous play produces overtired, snappy dogs — and a dog who comes home wired is not settled.

Can I see the dogs?

Webcams on every yard, live, with a login you keep. If a daycare will not show you the floor, you can guess why.

What are the vaccination rules?

Rabies, DHPP and bordetella, checked before the assessment day, plus flea and tick preventative.

What happens in an emergency?

Handlers are first-aid and CPR trained, our vet is four minutes away, and we call you from the car — not after.

The assessment day is why we trust them. They watched our collie for four hours, told us he does better with the calm group despite his size, and they were right.

I watch the webcam at lunch most days. It is genuinely reassuring — you can see the handlers actually handling, not standing on their phones.

Ten nights over Christmas and they sent a photo every single day. Came home tired and completely normal, which is all I wanted.

They turned our first dog away because he was not cut out for group, and recommended a walker instead. It stung, but it told us everything about how they operate. We came back with our second dog.

The puppy room is separate and it shows. Ours came home tired rather than overstimulated, and he learned to interrupt play and settle, which we never taught him.

Three yards split by size means our terrier is not sharing with a shepherd. That was the deciding line why we drive past two closer daycares.

Boarding

Nights Are Not Just Daycare With The Lights Off

Boarding dogs join daycare during the day, which is the whole point — they arrive tired rather than pacing a kennel from 9am. At night they get a private suite with a raised bed, not runs, with evening potty breaks and a photo before lights out. Holiday weeks are staffed by the same handlers your dog already saw every week, because a strange building and a stranger on top of it is a lot to ask.

  • Daytime daycare included in every boarding night
  • Private suites with real beds, not runs
  • Two evening potty breaks and a lights-out photo
  • Same handlers your dog already knows

Questions

Before The Assessment Day

A full day with us is $38, a half day $26, and most regulars take the three-day-a-week package at $102. Boarding is $64 a night with the day's daycare included. If someone charges half that, ask what the ratio is — that is where the money goes.

Rabies, DHPP and bordetella, plus flea and tick prevention. Your vet can email the records straight over, and we check them before the assessment day — no records, no visit.

No, and that is exactly what the assessment day is for. Dogs who guard resources, panic without their owner, or simply do not enjoy groups are usually happier with a walker or one-to-one care. We will tell you honestly either way.

With one handler to eight dogs, most trouble is interrupted before it starts — a body block and a time-out, not a scrum. If contact happens, both dogs are checked, both owners get a call the same day, and we write up what triggered it.

Yes — every yard has a live camera and every owner gets a login. They run all day, every day. Half our owners check at lunch; the other half just like knowing they could.

Puppies under eight months, yes. Adult intact males and females in season cannot join group play — it changes the whole yard's behaviour. Spayed and neutered adults of any age are welcome.

First Day

What To Bring

Vet Records

Rabies, DHPP and bordetella, plus flea and tick prevention. Email ahead and the morning goes faster.

Lunch, If They Eat Midday

Pre-portioned and labeled. We feed in a separate quiet room, never in the yard.

Any Medication

In its original packaging with written instructions. No extra charge, and every dose is logged.

Nothing Else, Really

No toys or beds from home — they cause guarding in a group. Boarding dogs may bring one blanket that smells of you.
